I’m holed up in my “creative space” with papers strewn across the floor (there is order in the seeming chaos). It’s tax time. My part is the easier piece. I just pull together all the various documents, forms, and raw numbers. We then bundle these off and send them to the CPA who has created the final product for us for many years. I am deeply, seriously grateful to this person because they take all these disparate and confusing pieces of information, ask me some questions after they go through what I’ve put together, and deliver the final results. I honestly do not know what we would do without her assistance. Neither my husband nor I would ever be able to work through the confounding maze of rules to produce our returns.
There are so many people who play these kinds of roles in our lives, and I’m sure in yours as well. I don’t know what led them to pursue these professions and avocations, but I am eternally grateful. I just visited the doctor yesterday (all is well) and had the same thoughts about the nurses, phlebotomist, and doctors in that practice. I could not do a single one of those jobs – no matter how much I might want to do so.
So, on this dreary cold winter day, I salute those who work in these logical, methodical, mathematical, and scientific professions. Thank you for all that you do!
Is there a professional in a field totally different from yours who has made your life better, easier, more fun to live? Leave a comment below, I’d love to hear what makes you grateful!
